Roadmap

What we’re building next.

Where Studia Manuscripta is headed after launch. Plans shift as we learn from scholars using it — push back, ask questions, or request a feature at [email protected].

Next

v1.0

In active development for the next release.

  • IIIF manifest import/export

Pull witnesses straight from IIIF manifests, and publish editions that cite back to them.

  • eScriptorium import

Bring ALTO and PageXML transcriptions in from eScriptorium without re-keying.

  • Transkribus integration

Bring transcriptions and HTR results in from Transkribus without re-keying.

Later

v1.1

Planned, but after v1.0 lands.

  • Collaborative editing

Shared projects with multiple editors, roles, and a change history.

  • API access for institutional users

A documented API so departments can script ingest, export, and reporting.

  • Plugin system

Extension points for custom normalisation rules, exporters, and lexicon sources.

Considering

v2

On our minds, not yet committed. Tell us if you need these.

  • Real-time collaboration

Live multi-cursor editing on the same edition, not just shared projects.

  • Mobile reading mode

A read-and-annotate view of finished editions tuned for phones and tablets.
